US Navy Veterans Exposure to Asbestos
U. S Navy veterans are still being diagnosed with mesothelioma and asbestosis more than 30 years after serving on various navy ships including;
Aircraft Carriers, Airships, Amphibious Ships, Auxiliary Ships, Battleships, United States Coast Guard Auxiliary, Cruisers, Destroyers, Destroyer Escorts, Escort Aircraft Carriers, Frigates, Minesweepers, Patrol Boats and Submarines.
Nearly 30% of all cases of mesothelioma diagnosed each year involve Navy veterans who were exposed during their military service.
More than 300 asbestos materials were used for construction and repair aboard warships and at shipyards. Everyone who worked in the shipyards or aboard ships were exposed to the potentially deadly effects of these products
Navy ships were filled with asbestos laden products between 1930 and 1970. Six thousand asbestos companies have been named in lawsuits over the last 40 years.
